RR: And He uses the things that the world calls foolish

LR: Or weird, weirdos.

RR: to confound the wise. Now you’ve been watching, you’ve been watching me stretching out my hands and asking people to come and lay their hands on my hands. I want to show you where this comes from in the Word of God. If you have your Bible, look at Acts, chapter 5, beginning in verse 12, and through the hands of the apostles or the disciples, many signs and wonders were done among the people. Are you listening?

LR: Read that one again.

RR: And through the hands everybody say hands and through the hands of the disciples or apostles, many signs and wonders were done among the people. Lindsay, hold this for just one second right there on that page. The disciples stretched for their hands to pray. I am stretching forth my hands to pray. Now I’ve heard people say, “Well, if Peter or Paul had laid their hands on me, I would be healed.” Well, I’ve got news. Peter and Paul aren’t here, but we are. They’re not here tonight, but we are.

LR: They were human flesh too.

RR: Lindsay, Peter and Paul had no healing power. They were men just like we’re men and women. They had no healing power. But they had the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. They had the anointing of God in their lives. And when they stretched out their hands and they prayed and they believed, God wrought miracles through their hands.

And in a moment I’m going to stretch out my hands and I’m going to ask you to come and lay your hands on my hands. And as I’ve been doing that, Lindsay, the holy heat of God has been coming into my hands. And you’ve been seeing what’s been happening. Let me have my Bible again. Let me have my Bible. Turn back to that scripture. In the, let’s look down now at the, let’s see, it was the 14th verse, is it? No, 15th verse. Let’s go back to 14. “And believers” now here’s what happens as a result of the signs and wonders.

LR: They believed.

RR: Well, that’s what believers do. Believers don’t doubt. Believers

LR: That’s agreement.

RR: “And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.” In other words, the miracles caused people to get born again. But now wait a minute, look at verse 15. “So that they brought the sick.” Now listen.

They didn’t follow Him when He finished His preaching. They followed Him when He had taught, He had healed, and He had preached. He’d taught, He’s healed, and He had preached. He taught, He preached, then He healed. He confirmed the word with healings, and then the people followed because the fame of Jesus went out. That’s what’s happening in this telecast. The fame of this ministry of your teaching, you’re preaching, and your healing in Christ’s name is going out across America.

People are talking about it, and they are beginning to open up their hearts. I notice from time to time you pray for the sick after the healings have taken place, after you’ve shared teaching and healing. And the salvations will occur, and I prophesy that in the near future there’s going to be an outpouring of healing because we are now beginning to teach, to preach, and to heal again. We are starting to be like Jesus, the whole nine yards of it, again.

LW: Richard, we’re getting a lot of calls tonight not only about healings received tonight, but this is a young lady, 79 years young, who in 1952, Fern, had four doctors tell her she had to have a goiter removed or she would die. She went to an Oral Roberts’ meeting in Evansville, Indiana. Oral Roberts laid hands on her. She was healed, she fell under the power of God, came up speaking in other tongues, and she wants to share that tonight with Brother Roberts.

RR: Hello, Fern.

FERN: Howdy do, Brother Roberts.

RR: Fern, where are you? You’re in.

FERN: I’m in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

RR: Mount Vernon, Illinois.

FERN: Yes.

RR: What year was that crusade in Evansville?

FERN: It was in ’52.

RR: In 1952.

OR: Fern, wasn’t that in the Roberts Auditorium in Evansville?

FERN: Yes, Evansville, Indiana.

OR: That seated ten thousand people and we were filled the first night. I’m sorry to disagree. It was not in 1952; it was 1956.

FERN: Okay, okay when you get to 79, you kind of forget a little bit.

OR: But I tell you, there were several people in the Evansville crusade with goiters.

RR: Yes.

OR: I remember. And you’re one of them, right?

FERN: I’m one of them.

OR: And where is the goiter now?

FERN: It’s gone. You said Brother Roberts, you said to the men that were standing there, “Take the lady with the goiter,” and they said, “There’s no use. She swallowed it.” And they said I was kind of like I choked for a while. I went back to the doctor, and the doctor couldn’t find it. So I swallowed it God took care of me. And I’m 79. I went home and burned my medicine, and my husband was borrowing money to buy it, and he said, “Honey, you’ll never get any more medicine for your medicine.” And I just laughed and started speaking in tongues and said, “I don’t need it.” And I’m 79, will be 80 in April, and I’m still here.

Fred Mower: You have to remember, I was thirty-five years old when this happened, and I had three children and a wife that I no longer could support. I had no choice but to trust God. One of the things that I have now that I didn’t have then, but it was something I really kind of relied on, a little placard thing to me that says I Am Healed Of The Lord, And I Will Believe It Till It Happens. And I’d done that twenty-one years ago. I knew God was going to heal me. I just didn’t know when. And I’ll be real honest with you. I would love to have been healed then, I’d love to be healed today before I’m finished talking. If that does not happen, that is not going to change anything. I’m still going to believe God’s going to do it.

RR: She touched the TV set Monday night, the opening night, the first night of this program, and now I want you to listen to this. The doctors say that her kidney has begun to function 20 percent where there was no function before.

LR: Hallelujah.

RR: The doctor says it is a miracle

LR: Yes, it is.

RR: and, Sandy, in the authority of Jesus’ name, I’m releasing my faith toward Michigan tonight, and I’m believing that that kidney which is now functioning 20 percent after not functioning at all

LR: Get up there.

RR: is going to go all the way up

LR: Yes, in Jesus’ name.

RR: in the authority of Jesus’ name. Come on, give the Lord praise.

LR: We’re believing with them for a miracle.

RR: Dad, I’ve got something special for you. We received a testimony early this morning from Garden Grove, California, of a woman who called in to give a testimony of what happened years ago when her daughter was a baby. She had the type of disease that causes the head to enlarge and to swell, and it looked very, very bad for this child. And you prayed over this child and the child was healed. And she’s calling back today to tell us that the healing has stood the test of time. Not only was the daughter healed when she was a baby, but today she is an airline flight attendant on one of the national airlines in America and she’s giving glory to God.

OR: Hallelujah!

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Or Switzerland. But nobody ever lets you talk. And I don’t think I’m going to let you play your piano today. I just think I’m going to let you talk. Why is that, Dino? Why don’t people let you talk?

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS I don’t know. I don’t know, because I can talk.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Do you speak Greek also?

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS I can speak a little Greek.

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS The only phrase I like to say in Greek that everyone needs to learn how to say is speaking Greek that means, I love you very much.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS I receive that.

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS That’s a very good one. Oh, O.K.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Dino, where have you been, what have you been doing? I understand you’ve just returned from Haiti. What’s going on in your life? What’s going on in your ministry?

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS You know, I had no idea, when I came forward when I was seven years old in Glad Tidings Tabernacle in New York City, and accepted Jesus Christ in my heart, I really had no idea God was going to use me as He has the past even five years. Of course I’ve played the piano since I was three years old. But it was seven years old when I made that commitment to the Lord. And it was then that He had this whole thing planned, you know. A lot of people see me primarily as a performer, entertainer, a gospel entertainer. But I like to see myself as an ambassador for Jesus Christ, you know. Three years ago you may recall I recorded a record with the London Symphony for World Vision.

And that record for Ethiopia brought in over three million dollars, and that like said something to me, you know, that people are responding because God’s allowing them to respond because of the missions, the people that need to be helped. You know about this with your overseas work. But just recently God has laid Haiti on our hearts. And when I went down there this last time, I mean I come back with even more of a burden. It’s hard to believe that so close to the United States of America there’s a country that is absolutely devastated because of poverty. And I’ve come back with a new vision to continue to present this cause wherever I go. We’re helping build a hospital there in Port-au-Prince, the Haitian Community Hospital. I’m sure you would appreciate that. And probably my inspiration in helping to raise funds for that hospital comes from here, from this ministry right here.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS What do you mean by that?

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS Well, I’ve known you for years, Richard, and your dad. And I’ve been very influenced by this ministry. I was healed in your dad’s miracle service years ago at the St. Nicholas Arena in New York City. Very few people know this. And it’s had an impact on my life. And now that I watch you and I know God’s using you and of course having been involved with Katherine Kuhlman and the faith healing ministries, even though I’m not actively involved with you folk, you know, in TV and on the road, my heart is with you. And I know the ups and downs of this kind of ministry. But I know beyond all of this that people are being helped, not only physically but spiritually. And seeing this hospital going up and having my own family being treated in this hospital, I know what it’s doing.

And this has again influenced my ministry. Again, I’m not just a piano player but I feel that I’ve got something more to present to the world as far as the healing power of Jesus Christ. There have been times perhaps when I play the piano, you know, that people have felt the healing power just flow through their body. And I pray for that because I pray for the Holy Spirit to play through me.
SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, but many times you say that before you play a song. I’ve seen you in concert where you have given a word of testimony before a song and I’ve heard you say to people, “You may be born again. You may receive Christ while this song is being played. You may receive a healing in your body while this song is being played.” You know, God can heal in many different ways. He can heal, He’s healed many times through lots of people singing.

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS He healed through David.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Certainly.

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS When he played the harp. You know, I think of that, he was an instrumentalist. But the key to that is the power of the Holy Spirit that flows through us to others. And the Haitian people need to feel that power. You know, what’s so wonderful is that they’ve been exposed to so many other things, other religions. But there are many Christians that are going down there now that are presenting Jesus Christ. One of the greatest, I believe the greatest experiences I’ve had playing the piano was when just recently I was in this huge room with 500 little Haitian children, have never even heard, seen a piano.

RR: And Lindsay and I are joined by John and Lisa Bevere.  Give them a great welcome to Something Good Tonight … the Hour of Healing.  Bless you.

J: So good to be here.

RR: Got to get your children  I know you don’t have any ready for college yet, got to get them into ORU.

J: We’ve got four boys.

RR: And they’ve got a son who is playing basketball, Lindsay, loves basketball.

L: And a soccer player.

RR: And a soccer player?  Well, we’ve got soccer, men’s and women’s soccer.  As a matter of fact, tonight the ORU women’s volleyball team is playing the number 22nd ranked team in the country, the University of Arkansas.  We’re over at Fayetteville tonight.  And if we weren’t making a program, Lindsay and I would find a way to get to Fayetteville tonight.  In fact, they’re playing right now. And, Father, in Jesus’ name I thank You for anointing the ORU Lady Golden Eagle volleyball team.  You say, “You can’t pray that way.”  Yes, I can.  I just did, in Jesus’ name.  It’s 8:20 over there, and in Jesus’ name I ask You to anoint them.

Our men’s basketball team is playing tomorrow night up at the University of Montana, had a big win Saturday night.  We’re big into athletics. Here are four fantastic books, among others that you have written.  Here are four.  I think we have a shot of them.  Here are two of John’s books, The Bait of Satan, and this is one we’re going to talk about.

LR: Incredible book.

RR: Wonderful book.  A brand-new book, The Fear of the Lord. Discover the key to intimately knowing God and fear in terms of reverence.

J: Reverential fear.

LR: John wants me to have that book.

RR: And then, of course, Lisa’s books.  Lindsay has endorsed one of these books, Out of Control and Loving It.  And this is the Christian Bookseller’s 1996 book of the year, is that right?

L: It was one of the CBA ones.

RR: One of the CBA books of the year.

J: It’s number five in the nation this month.

RR: It is?  As well as a brand-new book, The True Measure of a Woman.  And we’re going to share about how you can get a copy of these books.  But, John, one of the things that you deal with in your book on The Bait of Satan is offenses and how to deal with unforgiveness, how to deal with bitterness.  And Jesus said if you have ought against your brother, you know, when you come to pray, go and make it right.  If you don’t forgive, then God won’t forgive you.  How does a person, how does a Christian who has offenses, they’ve been hurt, they’ve been stabbed in some way and they don’t know how to get over it and then it turns into unforgiveness, it turns into bitterness, it turns into anger, it turns into hatred, it just gets worse and worse and worse, how does a person deal with that?

J: Well, you’ve got to deal with it.  The first way a person can deal with it is to realize what they’ve been forgiven of.  A person, a Christian, let’s deal with a Christian tonight, a Christian that cannot forgive is a Christian that’s forgotten what they’ve been forgiven of.  Jesus tells us a parable in Matthew, because Peter came and said, “My brother sins against me seven times and I forgive him, is that enough?”  And Peter thought he was being magnanimous.

RR: Maybe he wanted to hit him on the eighth time.

J: If you want to experience God to the fullest and put no limits on Him, come to Oral Roberts University with an open mind and an open heart.  And He will take you above and beyond anything that the human mind can imagine.  God is just so good.  Put your life in His hands, and He will mold you to be exactly what He wants you to be.  That’s exactly what I would say. As a matter of fact, Richard, I have two friends coming back for College Weekend, and they’re thinking about coming because I invited them here last … two weekends ago for College Weekend.

RR: Oh, praise God.  J, God bless you.  Thanks for calling, J.

RR: Sue, do you have a testimony?  What’s happening?

SUE: I do.  I have John on the line from Cuyoga, Ontario, Canada. Last week you gave a word of knowledge about chest pains.  And John was sitting on his table, got up, went to sit on the sofa, turned the TV on and you said, “Someone’s getting healed of chest pains.”  He is healed.

RR: Hello, John.

J: Yes, Richard.

RR: How are you tonight?

J: I am very well.

RR: Tell me what happened, John, the other night when we were praying.

J: Well, recently … this is 11 years ago … I had a severe heart attack.  My heart stopped seven minutes, and so I had triple bypass.

RR: Now that was 11 years ago.

J: That’s 11 years ago.  So I was sitting on the kitchen table just studying the Word, and I got such severe chest pains and sweat broke out.  And I just walked up to the sofa, sat down, turned on the television and you were on.

RR: Now this was just the other night?

J: That was last week, Tuesday night.

RR: Last Tuesday night.  Okay.

J: I tried to get through to give you a word of encouragement that I was healed, but I couldn’t get through.  The lines were too busy.

RR: Well, we’re trying to add prayer partners and adding more telephones just to better serve the people.

J: Well, everything is well.  I’ve had no chest pains since.

RR: None since.

J: None since.

RR: Oh, come on, give the Lord praise.  Oh, John, we just give God the glory, and thank you for calling.

RR:  What do you have, Sue?

SUE: We have Janea who is an ORU student from Arkansas.  She came to the program last week and she had the ulcer that you gave a word of knowledge on, and she is now healed.

RR: Now is it Janea?

SUE: Janea.

RR: Is she on the phone?

SUE: Yes, she is.

RR: Janea, hello.

J: Hello.

RR: How are you?

J: I’m doing well.

RR: Do you go by the initial “J”?

J: Yes.

RR: You do?  Okay, we’ll just call you J.

J: Okay.

RR: We call our Jordan “J” so we’re pretty accustomed to doing that. What happened, J?

J: Well, I was there on Wednesday, and right before you gave the word of knowledge, my body got really hot.  And then when you said, “There are three people that are getting healed of ulcers and one peptic,” my stomach felt like it was on fire.  And I was like, “O my God, thank You, Jesus, that’s my healing!”  And I’d been diagnosed about a year ago.

RR: Well, what difference can you tell now, J?

J: Now there’s no pain, no acid in my stomach.  Usually it is acid all the time, constantly, and the acid is gone, no more stomach pains.

RR: What about when you eat?

J: I can eat anything.

RR: Anything?

J: Yes, anything.

RR: Anything now that’s a victory.  That’s a victory, J.  We just give praise and glory to God.  J, where are you from?

J: Right now my parents live in Arkansas.

RR: From Arkansas.  Why did you come to Oral Roberts University?

J: Jesus told me I had to.

RR: You mean He didn’t give you a choice?

J: No, not at all.  And that’s when I developed the ulcer, when I was panicking over school, where I was going to go.  And I said, “Jesus, I can’t take this anymore.  Tell me what You want me to do.”  And He said, “Go to Oral Roberts University and major in psychology.”  And now He changed my major, but that’s okay too.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS  SU02 Lindsay, Lindsay, the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by  SR01 the word. ( RR_Romans_10:17 ) So when the word gets in your ears and  SR02 you hear it, then it gets down into your heart.  And out of the abundance of the heart your mouth speaks and you begin to say it. ( RR_Matthew_12:34 ) And then your ears hear it and then it gets down in your heart and you speak it and then your ears hear it and it gets down in your heart and you speak it.  And it’s a continuous cycle and you keep getting stronger and stronger and stronger.  What do you have to say for yourself?

SPKM CHERYL PREWITT SALEM Well, c  We just choose every day.  This lady said, “Well, I heard it and I believed it.” Well, she could have heard it and not believed.  That’s your choice.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS You can always decide to reject it, can’t you?

SPKM CHERYL PREWITT SALEM That’s right. You can either reject it or you can accept it.  This person called and it’s a woman and she’s from Georgia.  She’s a flight attendant….

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS She probably talks just like you.

SPKM CHERYL PREWITT SALEM Probably, and everybody likes her cause she does.  (LAUGHTER)

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS I walked right into that one. I owe you one, Cheryl.

SPKM CHERYL PREWITT SALEM That’s right. This lady said she had been injured on the job in the neck and she couldn’t pull her luggage with her right hand.  She had to use her left hand and pull that luggage every day to the plane and back.  They have to carry their luggage all around.  She said about a week ago she prayed with you, Richard, on the show and then before the program was over you had a word of knowledge that someone was receiving a healing in the neck and the shoulder.  She claimed her healing right then and she said from that moment she never had another pain.  Then she turned around and ordered my video.  (APPLAUSE)

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS All right now, in a few moments we’re going to have a word… you know, Cheryl’s video…. we’re going to have a word about it later in the program, but I can’t…. I have been absolutely astonished, Cheryl, at how many thousands of people have written in and sown a $25 seed to receive that video. It is absolutely amazing.  And, Lindsay, now that today is the sixth week since she had little Catherine Olivia, now Lindsay can start doing aerobics.

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS I have it memorized.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS But Lindsay can start on it today. After six weeks the doctor said she can begin.  Now she can’t really start in…

SPKM CHERYL PREWITT SALEM She has to just start easy right now.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS ….full blast but she can go easy on it. We’ll have a word about her aerobics video but it is the most fabulous aerobics video that you’ve ever seen in your life.  Be sure and get one.

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS Because it’s positive. It really is. I have to say that, because what I was saying about this lady, the thought came into my mind about the scripture that says the power of life and death is in the tongue.  You begin to speak either life or death into your situation, and that aerobics video will pick you up.  If you’re down…. and I’m not being funny.  If you are down or if you get up slowly in the morning or if you’re upset about something, Cheryl talks about scriptures on it, she talks about positive things, she talks about positive attitude, she talks about a positive self image throughout the whole tape.

My father wanted me to go to school to learn how to be a pharmacist or druggist, or a professional man, and I chose South Carolina, the university there — because they had a pharmacy school.  And I went there to school, and I played under Bobby Richardson for 4 years.  Four of the greatest years of my life. Playing baseball under a wonderful Christian man.  He came to me on the diamond there at the University of South Carolina in 1970 and he said, “Don, you are getting ready to go home into a world of pharmacy where you will be facing a lot of peer pressure,” like our young people face today, and he said, “Don, you’ll never make it without Jesus.”

And he said, “I realize that you have been sneaking out after curfew and drinking and smoking pot and running with the wrong crowd.”  By this time I had been staying up late at night and taking amphetamines, and studying — and I had started becoming addicted already to the speed and the amphetamines, and later on it developed into a cocaine addiction that was probably costing my family over $1,000 a week — when I had built a drug store up to a million dollar business.  I was at the top of my professional pinnacle.  I’d come home from school — I turned Bobby down that day when he said, “Don, I met a friend names Jesus when I was 16, at high school, went on and carried it to the New York Yankees with me — witnessed to Mickey Mantle and Roger Marris and all the greats.  Would you receive Jesus today?”  I through up my hands, Richard, and said, “You know, I’m okay, Bobby, I joined the church when I was 12.”  But deep down inside  I knew that I was living a lie.  I never did have the power to say no to drugs and alcohol — that our teenagers and our people need in America today.  And I came home and I had a lovely wife, started a family — she was a beautiful Christian — her name is Gwen.  And she prayed for me for many years — that I would come out of that fast lane of that party crowd and continue to go to church with her and really make a stand for Jesus Christ.  I don’t know how, but I was elected Chairman of the Baptismal Committee in my own church.

But I thank God today for a church who interceeded for me, for the whole  SM03 time I was in prison.  Acts, chapter 12, it says that the church for Jesus Christ interceeded for Peter daily while he was in prison. ( MS_Acts_12:05 ) I had a pastor who loved me, and who prayed, and who took care of my family.  But I would go to church and I would sit on the pew there on Sunday morning and I would hear many messages, but I would allow the pride of life and the pride of the world to keep me from going forward and making a commitment to Jesus Christ.  By this time I had built the drug store up to a million dollar business, working over 12 hours a day.  And I was president of the club, vice-president of the  club.  I was what you would call, Richard, as a pillar of the community.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS The world would say that you had made it, you had made it.
SPKM DON STANLEY The world said that I had made it.  But right there at the top of my pinnacle I realized that I was a lonely man without Jesus Christ.  And I was going down hill.  And I was on a roller-coaster ride.  I became an alcoholic, drinking over a quart of scotch a day.  And I was partying with doctors, and lawyers, and politicians and out in the fast lane of the world. And I started supplying friends with drugs –  and Demerol and cocaine, and I became addicted — snorting 95 percent pharmaceutical cocaine.  Even went to as far in a motel room — one night in Spartanburg, South Carolina as I took out a syringe and I hypodermically injected cocaine into my veins.  And you know as that monkey gets on your back the only hope for you in America is the blood of Jesus Christ.  (APPLAUSE)  Jesus is the hope of the hopeless.

But I was losing everything that I had worked for.  And I had my children there at home, and my wife Gwen — I had a young son when I left for prison who’s name’s Chris, that was 14 years old, playing on the high school baseball team.  A little girl named Summer, was 4 years old.  But I found out that what my children really needed, Brother Richard, was not a daddy who could buy them everything that  SM04 they needed in the materialistic world.  It says — what profit it a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul. ( MS_Matthew_16:26 ) What my children and my wife needed was a daddy who could get down on his knees at night and open up the word of God and tell them the precious stories about Jesus.

SPKM DUSTY KEMP I’m six years old at this time.  But it was definitely a real experience with the Lord.  Now I spent the next approximately 14 years convincing myself that I did not do that, so that in 1975 I was in college, I was going to University of Houston, going to be a lawyer, was going to graduate from the University of Houston and be a lawyer. And in 1975 was not really born again, never knew Jesus Christ as living.  And I didn’t have anything to do on a Thanksgiving night, and 1973 was the year. And so we went to Evangelistic Temple in Houston, Texas where Charles and Frances Hunter, who was on here just a couple of weeks ago, I remember seeing them, they were holding a special healing meeting.  And the place was so packed out that I didn’t have a place to sit.  So here I am college hippy type.  They went and sat me on the stage on the steps to the choir loft, right there front row center to watch what was going on.  Now I’d come with my grandparents and my mother and a couple of other people. And during that service Frances Hunter had a word of knowledge that my grandmother–well, didn’t say Dusty’s grandmother–but of course she said, “There is a lady in the audience who is being healed of a heart condition,” and that was my grandmother who stood up instantly when she said that.  She had had a heart condition for 17 or more years.  They tell me now it was more than 17 years.  I’d never known her able to do anything, go to any of my football games in high school or anything of that sort. But that night she was supernaturally healed by the power of God. And from that day until now–she’s 79 years old, I hope she doesn’t mind me telling you that, 79 years old–

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS I doubt she’ll mind.

SPKM DUSTY KEMP I don’t think so.  She now goes to Ronda’s daddy’s church, who was also my pastor, and is younger today thanshe ever has been in her life.  They were able right after thatwhen we first started pastoring Bread of Life Church in Houston in 1980, we were able to send my grandfather and grandmother up here to your partners weekend, I guess that’s the weekend seminar.  And she had never been able to do that in her life.And that turned me on to the supernatural power of God.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS That experience that your grandmother had, that miracle turned you on to Jesus.  (Yes)  What happened to you, now did you, you were not married yet at that time?

SPKM DUSTY KEMP No, I didn’t know Rhonda.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS You didn’t know Rhonda.

SPKM DUSTY KEMP No, I didn’t know Rhonda at that time.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Did that set about something in your life that you wanted to know more about Jesus?

SPKM DUSTY KEMP Well, see, I believed that the Bible teaches that every man is born with a knowing of God.  But the Bible says in Romans, chapter 1, that He makes it evident even to those who are not learned in the visible creation that He’s made.  And I don’t know if every man had it, but I had a hunger for God all my life, just for something more.  And then and there I knew that there was something more.  And so I began searching for the Lord at that time.  And then it was at a Holy Spirit Conference in which your dad ministered over in Dallas, a Methodist Holy Spirit Conference, that I finally turned my life completely over to the Lord Jesus Christ at that time.  And the rest is history, so to speak.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Rhonda, now how did you and Dusty get together?  I mean tell us, you’re on television now, you can tell the real story.

SPKM RHONDA KEMP O.K., I can tell the real story.

SPKM DUSTY KEMP Tell the truth.  Tell how you believed for me.

SPKM RHONDA KEMP Well, you know, there wasn’t a lot of faith movement back then and my dad having a church and of course they liked for me to date guys that were Spirit-filled and went to the church.  So I had to believe them in.  So I would pick them, you know, and bring them and get them saved and filled with the Holy Ghost.  That’s what I did with Dusty.  I saw him, the first time I saw him I knew I liked him.  And I’d invite him to things at the church a lot.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Did he come?

SPKM RHONDA KEMP Yeah, he came a lot of times, like singing groups, mild stuff, you know.  I’d only invite him to real mild stuff that wouldn’t blow him away.  But one night we, you came for a singing group and I remember Dusty sitting in the back and he knew nothing about the baptism in the Holy Spirit or anything. And he kept looking at me saying, “Have I got it, have I got it?” And I kept going, “What is this guy talking about, have I got it, have I got it?”  But what he was speaking of was the power of the Holy Ghost, you know, in the service.  Do you remember it?  That was great.
